Every single day...in tv shows, music videos, song lyrics, magazines, commercials, social media...young women are objectified and society supports it wholly, it seems. We watch the shows, we buy the music, we get the products, we comment on the (almost soft-porn) Facebook posts. Yet, it continues unchecked until someone like Emma Hickey from Gardiner Area High School (with Munzing Media) of Gardiner produces a video calling us out on it. Not only that, but she points out the ramifications of this type of behavior.

Entertainment has evolved (or devolved) from being entertaining on it's creative merits to using scintillation in order to get people to look or watch. Putting a scantily clad, "stacked" woman into the mix allows the creativity (and thus, the amount of labor) to be dialed down a couple of notches. It's one of the reasons I don't watch much tv. News is about it for me. They still seem to be able to present THAT without a lot of partial nudity or implied six.

Watch Emma's video. If it doesn't change your attitude immediately it will, at the very least, make you think every time you see an image that can be construed as "sexist." Believe me, you'll notice they're everywhere.
