REPORTS: Multiple Maine Bald Eagles Have Tested Positive For Avian Flu
According to WGME 13, two Maine bald eagles are now confirmed to have contracted Avian Flu. In addition to the Maine eagles, two Bald Eagles have also tested positive in the state of Vermont.
WGME says that the cases were discovered in Maine's York and Lincoln counties. They also emphasize that the risk level to the public for avian (bird) flu, remains relatively low.
However, they do remind the public that if at any point you come in contact with a wild bird that you immediately wash your hands and change you clothing, regardless of whether you suspect the foul was carrying a disease.
Avian flu is responsible for millions of bird deaths across the United States with hundreds of those bird deaths occurring in Maine.
