It was a terrifying scene that unfolded in a small Maine town on Monday afternoon, June 3, according to WABI TV 5.

The news station reported that the crash, which happened in the town of Prospect, sent at least one to the hospital in serious condition.

WABI said that the crash, which involved a large tractor-trailer truck and a train, happened in the area of Muskrat Road. That particular train crossing is just a short distance from major route 1A.

The 18-wheeler, which was reportedly not carrying cargo at the time of the crash, was struck on the tracks by the passing train, News Center Maine reported. First responders to the scene said that the cab of the truck was "badly damaged" by the crash, according to the Bangor Daily News.

At this time, we're not sure which trucking company was involved in the crash though investigators say that it appears that the train is owned and operated by Canadian Pacific, according to the BDN.

The driver of the truck was seriously injured, WABI said.

Investigators are still working to identify the cause of the crash as it is still unknown as of Tuesday morning.
