According to WMTW, Maine lawmakers are discussing a bill that would relax the vehicle inspection requirements.

Currently, Maine is one of only 17 states that require periodic vehicle inspections.

Possible changes include only requiring an inspection every other year and giving new cars a grace period.

Supporters say it will help Maine keep up with changes in vehicle technology, while opponents are concerned for public safety.
