Taco Rico is taking a major step forward in Augusta, moving from a curbside pickup and DoorDash-only operation into its first full restaurant at 146 Mt. Vernon Avenue. The business has built a loyal following over the last year through delivery orders and pickup from Oak Table & Bar, but now customers will finally have a permanent place to sit down and enjoy their favorite tacos.

The new location carries some local history. Before Taco Rico, the building was home to Two Maine Guys, a longtime Augusta restaurant known for sandwiches and comfort food. Taco Rico’s arrival will give the space a completely different feel, replacing burgers and deli fare with authentic street tacos, burritos, rice bowls, and Mexican drinks.

Taco Rico has become especially popular for its grilled birria tacos, served with rich dipping broth, along with its build-your-own burritos, quesadillas, and rice bowls. Other favorites include carnitas tacos, chorizo, chicken mole, and even vegetarian options like sweet potato and lion’s mane mushroom tacos. The owners have also hinted that the new restaurant will feature an expanded menu and house-made aguas frescas.
