Let's be honest: we're spoiled here in Maine...
There are hundreds of ghost stories in Maine to comb through but few have as many "encounters" as have been reported about the "White Lady of Millinocket". That's the name given to the apparition that dozens of people have claimed to see on a bridge located on Route 11 on Brownville Road right outside of Millinocket...
Roxanne Quimby of Burt's Bees fame, owns a lot of land in northern Maine. Her group has offered to donate 150,000 acres of the land on the east side of Baxter State Park with the stipulation that it be turned into a NATIONAL park (like Acadia, Maine's only national park).
I laughed out loud when I read a headline on the KJ's website this morning: "Franklin, Somerset County Snowmobile Trails Not Ready Yet." Really? The photo accompanying the headline was of brown grass with a few patches of snow. Are there people out there who are that stupid that would think, "there's a little snow...why not use the trails?"
My buddy Mike and I are weekend warriors. We gallivant all over northern Maine in search of just two things. Good pits to go plinking (target shooting) in and great food/drink. Sure, we can find both right here but it just isn't the same as driving for two or three hours and spending a hundred bucks on gas.
