Where to watch the live construction of the Ticonic Bridge
According to Maine.gov, this bridge has been a part of the area for over a century. It is a piece of history that has connected people and provided travel for so many years now. It is now being replaced with a new, modern bridge.
The new design has a two-span, steel girder bridge with a concrete deck. A single concrete pier will be built in the river to support the new bridge, according to Maine.gov.
The goal is to replace the old structure because parts of it are more than 100 years old.
The MDOT will close the Ticonic Bridge, starting January 6, 2025, for about six months as part of a bridge replacement project, as per the site.
