Tractor Trailer Truck Crashes, Catches Fire Forcing Maine Road Closure Wednesday Morning
A portion of road is closed in Maine Wednesday morning following an apparent crash and fire involving a tractor trailer truck.
According to reports from WGME 13, several emergency crews are on the scene of what appears to be a crash that involved a black pickup truck and an 18-wheeler. The crash happened at about 8 o'clock on Wednesday morning in the town of Turner, Maine.
Following calls for help, first repsonders immediately headed to the scene on Route 4, or Auburn Road, to begin assisting those involved. When crews showed up they found a pickup truck with severe front-end damage and an 18-wheeler engulfed in flames.
For safety of both other drivers and officials on the scene, the police department has shut down part of Route 4 from Lower Street on. The road remains closed as of 9:50 Wednesday morning.
At this time, there is no word yet on what may have led to the apparent collision between the pickup and 18-wheeler, though investigators are on scene and will be working to reconstruct the crash this morning.
Additionally, it is not yet known if any injuries were sustained by either the truck driver or the person/persons in the pickup. We will continue to keep this story updated as more information is made available to us in the coming hours and days.
Please avoid this section of Route 4 in Turner as police and fire crews work to contain the scene, investigate the cause and get the roadway clear of debris.
