18-Year-Old Maine Teen Struck By Vehicle in Farmington, Taken to Hospital
A Maine teen has been hospitalized following a vehicle vs pedestrian crash that happened in Farmington on Tuesday.
According to an article published by WGME 13, the incident happened on Tuesday while an 18-year-old was crossing the street on Main Street in Farmington in front of one of the residence buildings at the University of Maine campus.
While the teen was crossing the street, they were struck by a vehicle that was being driven by a Strong, Maine woman. Charges are currently pending against the 39-year-old woman, WGME reported.
Following the crash, the young victim was taken by rescue to an area hospital where they are being treated for what are considered to be non-life-threatening injuries, the news station said.
Further investigation of the incident revealed that the teen was in fact attempting to use a crosswalk at the time of the collision, however it has been discovered that the pedestrian crossing lights in that specific area were not working when the incident occurred.
WGME explained that those same lights are currently under repair and will hopefully be back up and operational shortly.
This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information becomes available to us in the coming days.
All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
