Mystery of Maine’s ‘Unwanted Baby’ Grave, Can We Finally Uncover the Truth?
That's what was found in Camden, Maine. It's a mystery still after all of these years.
Can we finally uncover the truth?
In a cemetery in the town of Camden sits a heartbreaking grave. The headstone reads the following:
"Unknown Unwanted Baby Boy—Body Found in Rockport Quarry, April 20, 1940. Age About 5 Months Old."
This was found from a recent post in the Gone, But Not Forgotten Facebook group and it has stirred up conversation about this baby's story and what led to his life being lost.
Who were his parents? And most haunting, why did no one claim him?
As per the post, the poster stated that a cross stands on one side of the headstone, and a small angel statue watches over the other. Toys have been left by strangers and though the police investigated, his identity was never uncovered.
However, as the gravestone notes, this baby was 5 months old. That's nearly half a year. Somewhere, there were people who knew him, a life he touched, and a story waiting to be discovered... right?
We may never know who this young baby was, but maybe, just maybe, one of Maine's talented investigators, historians, or even a very curious citizen could dig a little deeper?
Could DNA testing, records, or old newspaper archives finally reveal the truth of the baby? In my opinion, he deserves that. No matter how long it's been.
This isn't just a cool mystery to follow, it's a call to action.
Someone out there has the missing pieces.
Let's find out who this baby was and give him the dignity of a real name, real story, and maybe, just maybe, even justice.
