VA2K 2017 at Togus for ‘Homeless Veterans Project’ is Huge Success
May 17th was the ‘7th VA2K Walk and Roll’ at may VA locations round the country. In Maine, it happened at a handful of VA locations including the Veterans Administration Hospital Togus in Augusta. For the 7th time I was honored to be part of the Togus event.
It is a 1.2 mile walk around the historic Togus campus, people can take part of the lunch time cook out, and support the homeless veterans program with donations of items for a veteran to set up their new homes! So many people at Togus and the community in general took part to make this a HUGE success.
One person who really has embraced the VA2K is Rebecca Pushard of MIKA Fit in Manchester. Their business bus was loaded up with items that came from direct donations or donations of cash that Rebecca used to buy needed items. PLUS there were two HUGE boxes, I mean they were five feet tall and about 6 feet wide were full of items as well donated by walkers. Truly a team effort and a good job was done by all.
But know, no matter how you made a donation, each and every dollar, gift card and item WILL make a difference.
