According to the Kennebec Journal,a traffic stop in Waterville on Wednesday led to the subsequent arrest of two men. The traffic stop was a result of an ongoing investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Somerset County Sheriff's Office and the Waterville Police Department.

Waterville Police conducted a traffic stop at around 10 AM Wednesday on Elm Street which led to the single occupant, 34-year-old Matthew Davidson, fleeing on foot. A foot chase ensued which resulted in Davidson throwing a baggie on a rooftop during the chase. Officers eventually caught up with Davidson and placed him under arrest. After being taken into custody, officers retrieved the baggie which contained a white powder suspected of being drugs.

Davidson was charged with violating conditions of release, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, aggravated possession of scheduled drugs and aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs. At the time of Wednesday's arrest, Davidson was out on bail from another drug trafficking charge in November, 2020.

After the arrest, officers attained a warrant to search Davidson's apartment at 77 Elm Street in Waterville. Upon entering the apartment they discovered Amos Roman of The Bronx, New York. Roman was immediately taken in to custody and charged with falsifying physical evidence, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, and illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Davidson will appear in court in May and is being held at Kennebec County without bail. Roman is being held on $23,500 total bail for all three charges. Roman is scheduled to appear in court near the end of April.
