Man Arraigned In Connection With Waterville Drive-By Shooting Of 7-Year-Old
According to news reports, an 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the drive-by shooting that injured a 7-year-old girl in Waterville on Feb. 28..
CentralMaine.com reports Gavin T. Loabe, 18, of Mercer, was arraigned on March 9 on charges of aggravated assault, as he was allegedly in the car with another unnamed person who officials allege fired at the home.
According to the story, Loabe was arrested on March 6 by Waterville Police, he is being held at the Kennebec County Jail on $750,000 cash bail. The CentralMaine.com story said that prosecutors had initially contemplated a charge of attempted murder against Loabe, but amended those charges on March 9 to aggravated assault.
The girl was treated for a bullet wound in the back and was released from the hospital last week.
The case remains under investigation.
