A Central Maine man is in jail following a lengthy standoff that started on New Years Day.

According to the KJ, 42 year old Jacob Walmer has been charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault, kidnapping and domestic violence — criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

The incident started at about 7:40 PM on Sunday when members of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Heath Road in Whitefield.  When they arrived on the scene, the reportedly spotted Jacob Walmer walking around inside the home.  He reportedly was holding a rifle and was refusing the answer the door.

After attempting to make contact with Walmer several times, law enforcement called in the Maine State Police tactical team.

The road was closed to traffic and power was shut off to the residents.  A few hours later, a female inside the home called police to let them know she was not being allowed to leave.  Allegedly, Walmer was threatening to shoot her if she left.

A while later, the female was able to leave the residence, but Jacob Walmer stayed inside.

The incident finally ended just after 11 AM on January 2nd, when Walmer was taken into custody.  He reportedly received minor injuries in the apprehension.

Walmer is currently being held at the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.  His bail has been set at $10,000.
