Whitehead Out As UMaine Hockey Coach
It is official. Sources have confirmed that the University of Maine hockey coach Tim Whitehead, has been fired.
Whitehead, who had one year left on his contract, lead the Maine Black Bears to a dismal 11-19-8 record this season. He had coached the team for the last 12 years, with mixed results. His career started with a promising 154-69-26 over the first six year, followed by another six years with a record of 96-102-28.
As a Maine hockey fan, I applaud the decision of the university. Thank you, for finally acknowledging that mediocrity has no place in the Alfond.
Today, I am a very proud Maine Alumni and I am very excited for the 2013/14 hockey season.
Fill the Steins to dear old Maine, Shout til the rafters ring. Stand, and drink your toast once again, let every loyal Maine fan sing. *Drink, Drink, Drink* Drink to all the happy hours, drink to the careless days, Drink to Maine our Alma Mater, College of our hearts always!
