For years, Tampa Bay was seen the ugly stepchild in the American League East, but the Rays have come a long way since being established in 1998.

It took 10 years before the Rays were a serious threat in the division, but ever since 2008, when they made it to the World Series, they have been making things tough for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays. (Coincidentally—or not?—2008 was the year Tampa Bay shortened their nickname from the Devil Rays to the Rays.)

In 2013 the Rays are just a half game back of first-place Boston, and just keep turning in big performances. On Wednesday David Price threw a complete game in a 5-1 win over Boston. Is this the team to beat in the division?
