WINSLOW, MAINE: One Person Killed, Another Injured in Tuesday Evening Crash
Summertime in Maine means warmer weather, more things for people to do and more vehicles on the state's roadways than at any other point of the entire year. Sadly, at least most years, that also means more fatal traffic crashes.
According to WGME 13, there was another fatal crash that happened on Tuesday evening in Winslow along the China Road, also known as route 137.
The news station is reporting that emergency crews were dispatched to the area of 604 China Road a little bit before 6 pm on Tuesday evening after reports of the crash.
When police and medical teams responded to the scene, they found the driver already deceased and the passenger uninjured. Winslow Police told reporters that the single vehicle involved in the fatal crash was a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep was travelling eastbound at the time of the crash.
Police tell reporters that it appears the vehicle veered off of the roadway and went into the air. After becoming airborne it appears the vehicle then slammed into a utility pole before eventually flipping over.
At last check, WGME was reporting that Tuesday night's crash in Winslow was still being investigated, and as such, the names and locations of those involved in the crash are not currently being released.
According to the Kennebec Journal, police and fire crews that responded to the scene closed off China Road to traffic, detouring vehicles to Randall Road until emergency crews had left the scene at about 8 p.m.
