According to WABI TV 5, authorities are seeking witnesses who may have seen an accident that occurred Friday night in the town of Dresden.

Reports indicate that shortly after 5 PM on Friday evening, 40-year-old Eva Russell Edmonds of Woolwich, was struck and killed by a vehicle as she was walking on the Middle Road (Route 27).

The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Matthew Larochelle of Richmond, struck Edmonds because he was unable to see her due to dark clothing. Police have said that they do not believe that speed or alcohol were factors in the accident, though it remains under investigation.

When the call came in about the accident, police were already in the area searching for another pedestrian that they had received reports about walking in the roadway. The first report was about 4 miles away from where the deadly accident took place. Since there is no way someone would have been able to cover four miles in that short of a time-span on foot, police are asking people if they say another pedestrian on route 27 Friday night who may have also been walking in the roadway.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have seen a pedestrian on Route 127 between 3 and 5:15 p.m. Friday is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 882-7332 or email BKANE@Lincolnso.me. Authorities are also asking for help identifying if someone may have pulled over and picked up a pedestrian on that same stretch of road on Friday evening.
