Does the impending cooler weather have you feeling the blues? Are saying to yourself...no summer, not so fast! Well, I may have something that will tickle your fancy. You see the island of Bermuda has launched a new program that allows people just like you to come and work remotely from Bermuda for a year.

And why not, right? After all, Bermuda is safe, Bermuda is close and Bermuda is beautiful, and the people are pretty friendly. And go figure, If you are working remotely from home already, Bermuda is now inviting you to take the opportunity to explore the option of working remotely from Bermuda for the next year

Since tourism pretty much came to a halt in Bermuda due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government is now hoping that an extended-stay program for visitors will increase the island’s residential population and give its economy a much-needed boost. All things considered, as far as the pandemic goes, Bermuda has faired pretty well the island has reported a total of 153 COVID-19 cases and nine deaths. That is much safer than almost any U.S. community.

The program is called the “Bermuda Certificate” program, which involves a small application fee per person, and also includes the flexibility to travel back and forth home from Bermuda during the one-year period.

“As a holder of a residential certificate you will be a long-term visitor in Bermuda and we are ready to share our vibrant culture and unique brand of hospitality to cure the Coronavirus blues, no need to be trapped in your apartment in a densely populated city with the accompanying restrictions and high risk of infection; come spend the year with us working or on the water.”

Applicants must be over the age of 18, have health insurance, “demonstrate good character” prove that they are employed to a company or enrolled in a school outside of Bermuda, and prove that they will be able to maintain an income without seeking employment in Bermuda.
