Worm ‘Brain’ Uploaded Into Robot

Researchers at the OpenWorm project recently hooked a simulated worm brain to a wheeled robot. The robot ended up moving back and forth without being explicitly programmed to so. It also avoided objects driven only by the interplay of external stimuli and digital neurons. Is this the next step moving closer to artificial intelligence?
