Burt Shavitz, who was the co-founder of Burt's Bees, a company that uses beeswax to make natural skin care and personal hygiene products, has passed away. He was 80.

Although the company that he co-founded with Roxanne Quimby is still in existence, it is now owned by Clorox.

Burt was just a beekeeper when he picked up Roxanne, who was hitchiking, in the early 80s. She's the one with the drive and the business plan. Burt just went along for the ride and, when the company was sold, he ended up with just a tiny fraction of what Quimby did. But he was fine with it. After all, Burt just wanted a simple life, even though he was world famous.

In later years, he did cash in some on his fame by representing Burt's Bees at various functions around the world. But, more than anything, Burt just liked staying home.

"A good day is when no one shows up and you don’t have to go anywhere," he says in the documentary, Burt's Buzz.

This is a GREAT story and it's available on Netflix.
