Today, September 12th is ‘National Video Game Day’. If you’re in your mid 30s or older you probably remember throwing in quarter after quarter trying to break the high score of someone you only knew by their three initials.

Gallaga, Pacman or Ms Pacman were my go-to games at the arcade. I also liked Pole Position and Frogger. I’m sure there were others but those were the most memorable. I was more of a pinball guy, because I felt I could control the game more.

I can remember at one of the malls where I grew up, there was an arcade at the bowling alley and this is where we spent many-a-Saturday. Mostly we just hung out but we played the arcade games as well but $20 only goes so far.

I remember my first home video game system, it was a Gemini. A Gemini was an Atari knock off but you could use Atari cartridges.

Right about the age I started dating, 16, 17 years old, I stopped playing video games. I’m not sure if I thought they were a time suck or if I found better things to do, if you get what I mean.

More recently, meaning in the past 10 years, I’ve played games on the Wii and PS2 but I’m not much of a gamer now but I'll play with the kids sometimes.

How about you? What games do you play or liked back in the day?
