Police in Maine have been working hard over the years to crack down on the amount of drug trafficking happening in the state. As is the case in most states across the country, local and state police have been working literal overtime to combat the deadly surge of fentanyl that has entered the US.

Oftentimes thankless work, police put their lives on the line and some have even overdosed on the job by coming into contact with potent drug. However, they continue to get up day after day and put their lives on the line to keep our schools, streets and communities safe.

According to an article published by WGME 13, a 19-year-old Maine girl has been arrested and charged with drug trafficking. The news station goes on to report that Somerset County Sheriff's Deputies executed a search warrant at a motel in Fairfield, Maine.

Police went on to explain that during the search they were able to uncover more that 13 grams of deadly fentanyl. In addition, police secured an unspecified amount of cocaine as well as other drug paraphernalia from the motel room.

Following the search and seizure of the illicit items, police took 19-year-old Adrianna Velez of Fairfield into custody. Police say that at the time of her arrest, Velez was already out on bail on unrelated charges.

At last check, Velez was being held at the Somerset County Jail on $25,000 bail.

This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information becomes available to us.
