40,000 Pounds of Ground Beef Recalled for Possible E. Coli
Food recalls are certainly nothing new. As a matter of fact, whether you notice them or now, they actually happen all the time. The only thing that makes something like this a little different now is that people have been hoarding meats for month and the supply was already a little unsteady.
According to WABI TV 5, Lakeside Refrigerated Services is putting the recall out on about 43,000 pounds of ground beef they say may have been cross-contaminated with E. coli. These are raw beef products that would include the establishment number 46841.
Officials say that these products were shipped all over the United States and were found to have been possibly contaminated during 'routine testing'. Obviously, the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection says if you have any of these products you should not consume them.
If you're wondering if you have purchased any of the possibly tainted meat, look below for a full list of the packages and lot codes that are in question. If you have a already eaten the meat, there isn't much you can do aside from monitoring how you feel.
E. coli infection symptoms can start anywhere between three and four days after ingesting. According to the Mayo Clinic, symptoms may include diarrhea, abdominal pain or tenderness, nausea and vomiting. If you've recently eaten ground beef and experience these symptoms, you should contact your doctor immediately.
