For decades, communities around the world have had neighborhood watch groups.  Small groups of citizens keeping an eye out for suspicious and criminal activities near their homes.

That trend has made the jump to the 21st century with entire towns and cities connected by social media groups.

While it appears that this group has been around for some time, it was just brought to my attention this morning.

According to the notice at the top of the page, the Augusta Maine Neighborhood Watch was set up to "alert Augusta residents of possible crimes, criminals and other similar types of activity."

While you do need to be approved by a current member, the turnaround time is pretty quick.  I would encourage you to join the group.  The more members, the quicker word get out about potential issues.
