Here’s When Central Maine Could See Its First Snowstorm of The Year
Settle down, folks, you don't need to get your Vikki Seeks all up in a wad. It's not like it's going to snow tomorrow for crying out loud. We just wanted to do a little investigative journalism to find out when Central Maine might in fact receive its first measurable snowfall of the 2025/2026 winter season.
Now to do this requires two things. A desire to be depressed by information and a solid internet connection. Ah, who am I kidding? You could have a shoddy internet connection and still come up with the same results.
As we look ahead to the colder months, we like to use a source called How Much Will It Snow?. This is a website that tracks every measurable snowfall across every city in the United States every year. The best part is they keep a record that you can go back a look at.
So when has it historically snowed in Augusta?
For the sake of this article, we are hyper-focusing on the city of Augusta, Maine. When we look at recent snowfall history, according to How Much Will It Snow, we can see that Augusta had its first measurable snowfall last year on November 28th, 2024 of 3 inches. In 2023 it snowed an inch on November 21st.
Back in 2022 it snowed 2/4 of an inch on the 15th of November and in 2021 it snowed 1/4 of an inch on the 26th of November. Now to be clear, the history goes back more than 7 years, but for the sake of this prediction, we're just going to use the last four.
This means that if the last four years are any indication of the upcoming snow season, the city of Augusta will likely see measurable snowfall between the dates of November 15th and November 28th, 2025.
We're not saying you need to put the plow on and gas up the snowblower today, but the back-to-school stuff is already out at Walmart, so the colder weather is approaching faster than you think.
In other news, it's going to be sunny and 80 this Saturday.
