The Augusta Police officers have been growing out their beards since October for charity. Those who could not grow facial hair wore hats to indicate that they were participating in the challenge.

Well, yesterday at Penny's Barber Shop on the rotary, it all came to an end. After raising more than $5,500.00 for local charities through the United Way, it was time to shave it all off. Some of the officers were a little sad to see their beards shaved away. According to APD code, officers are prohibited from having facial hair, except for mustaches.
