You’re warming up in a cozy downtown bar when the door opens and a rush of cold air slips in, along with what looks like every Santa in Maine. They crowd in with laughter, jingling bells, and wildly creative costumes, and suddenly you realize you’ve stumbled into one of Bangor’s most beloved holiday moments.

Want a reason to throw on a Santa suit and hit the town with your friends, all while helping local families?

The 3rd annual Santa Claus Pub Crawl in Bangor is back this December.

This event has become one of Bangor’s most recognizable holiday traditions. Every year, the streets fill with people dressed as Santas, Mrs. Clauses, elves, reindeer, you name it. From classic red suits to silly, homemade costumes, it’s hard not to laugh when you walk into a bar and realize it’s completely full of Santas.

To join in, just bring a new, unwrapped toy or donate $10. That gets you an event bracelet and a map of the participating locations. With your bracelet, you can enjoy food and drink specials all around Downtown Bangor.

According to the event's page, this year the event is partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Bangor to raise money and toys for the families they serve.

This year’s participating stops include Happy Endings, 11 Central, Paddy Murphy’s, The Key Room, Blaze, The Waverly, Nocturnem Draft Haus, Pepino’s, Carolina’s, The Butcher The Baker, and several others.

Every bar puts its own spin on holiday-themed drinks and snacks, and each stop ends up feeling like its own small party. Everything is walkable, so you see crowds of Santas moving from place to place; it really brings downtown to life.
