Central Maine Juvenile in Custody After Allegedly Shooting at Cars
A 17-year-old is in custody following multiple reports of gunfire directed at vehicles in Lewiston, Maine.
According to WMTW News 8, local police were called to the are of Jefferson Street in Lewiston on Tuesday night at around 10:30. They were responding to multiple reports of gunfire in the area. Police say that upon their arrival, they found several shell casings on the ground as well as a vehicle that had been clearly struck with bullets.
Police went on to explain that they did not discover any injured persons at the scene, but nearby witnesses were able to provide an accurate description of the alleged shooter.
Later in the evening at about 3:15 am Wednesday, even more gunshots were heard, this time in the area of Knox Street. When police showed up at the Knox Street scene, they found five other cars that had been vandalized by gunfire.
Since then, Lewiston Police officers have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile in connection to the initial gunfire on Jefferson Street, and were not immediately sure if the Knox Street shooting was related.
