Growing up in Augusta, the Colonial Theater was a constant hangout and like most locals, I am excited to see the progress being made on this old building.

Work continues on the renovation of the Colonial Theater in downtown Augusta, and It won't be long before it is ready.  And when it is, the Colonial Theatre Youth Troupe will take the stage and they are looking for local kids to take part..

The Colonial Theatre Youth Troupe will consist of three different age groups. The first age group, 8-12, begin classes in January for 15 weeks and will be headed by actress/director, Barbara Helen Baker.

Admission is by audition, and no prior experience is necessary.  The Troupe is limited to 20 students. Auditions will begin on December 10th at the Colonial Theatre Annex, 70 State Street, Augusta.

The students will meet weekly from 4-6 pm; classes include acting, singing, and dancing. In April, the program concludes with the performance of an original musical. There are four scheduled rehearsals in addition to class time on the week of the final performance.

For questions and to schedule your audition contact Barbara Helen Baker at 207-512-8254 or by email barbarahelenbaker@gmail.com.
