We had a TON of rain yesterday and as expected there was a little flooding. In fact, we have a flood warning in effect until the evening of December 2 according to National Weather Service.

It is always very impressive to see the Kennebec River like this and to see that no matter what we may want the river is just going to do what it wants to do. I have seen the river over the years higher than this and over the years it has done a lot of damage in the communities along its banks. But that is life along a river. For all a river can bring to a community it has a price.  While we no longer need the river as a lifeline to the world as it was long ago it is still such a member of our community and a unique feature.  After all how many cities have a major that runs through it…not just alone one of its borders…not many.  Augusta and the Kennebec River have a very unique relationship.
