Recently, a small Maine family has been faced with a devastating tragedy.

According to Bowndoinham Fire/Rescue, a structure fire broke out on Post Road in the evening on December 6. Many responding crews, including Bowdoinham Fire/Rescue, Bowdoin Fire / Rescue Department, Richmond (ME) Fire Department, Lisbon Emergency - official -, and the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office came to the scene to help.

The home belongs to Kelly Grady, a single mom with a four-year-old child and a dog. According to GoFundMe, they are now homeless, and all of their belongings are considered a total loss. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Kelly's older sister, Ryan, set up the relief fund to support Kelly and her family in getting back on their feet.

One particular aspect in the description caught my attention and stirred deep emotions. It was when Ryan was describing her sister, Kelly, saying,

I fully expect her to embody the personification of a phoenix and for her and her young family to rise from the ashes of this tragedy.

As the fund states, Kelly works as a Marine Electrician at BIW, and now at her moment of greatest need, her family is asking for the community's help.

Kelly is currently using a Red Cross voucher to stay in a hotel for a couple of nights, and her child's school has been contributing.

However, since they lost everything, they are seeking $25,000 to help Kelly's family rebuild and get back on their feet, according to the GoFundME.

Ryan also added a couple of items need at the moment:

Clothing Jaydon
size: 5T or 5/6, Boys XS
Shoes: Size 11 boys

Clothing Kelly

If you're able to lend a hand, please do. As Mainers, we always unite to support our own, and I'm confident that we will continue to do so for Kelly and her family.
