Falmouth police are investigating an armed robbery at the town’s Walmart after a masked suspect reportedly held up a cashier at gunpoint Friday night.

According to police, the suspect entered the Walmart on Gray Road around 8 p.m. wearing a mask and approached a register. Investigators say the individual then displayed a handgun and demanded money. Employees complied and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.

After the robbery, WGME reports that the suspect ran out of the store and left the area in a vehicle, though officers have not released any details about what the suspect looked like or the type of car they may have fled in. No injuries were reported, and police say both customers and employees were able to get to safety as the suspect fled.

Falmouth police remained on scene Friday night reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in an effort to develop additional leads. Anyone with information that could help identify the suspect is urged to contact the Falmouth Police Department at (207) 781-2300.
