Gardiner, Maine Man With Domestic Assault History Arrested, Charged w/ Abusing 91-Year-Old
According to the Kennebec Journal, a Central Maine man was arrested in connection with an investigation into alleged elder abuse that was reported on April 13th. The reports indicated that the alleged abuse was taking place on Highland Avenue in Gardiner, Maine.
The Kennebec Journal reports that Kennebec County Sheriff's Office Detective, Brittany Johnson, led the investigation with the assistance of the Gardiner Police Department and The Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Following an investigation into the alleged abuse, law enforcement officials were successfully able to take the suspect, 59-year-old, David Dineen, into custody. Police say that Dineen had been assaulting a 91-year-old family member, though they declined to say what the relation was.
The release indicates that Dineen, who plead guilty to domestic assault back in 2013, has been charged this week with endangering the welfare of a dependent person, aggravated assault with a weapon, domestic violence assault and criminal threatening according to the report from the Kennebec Journal. At the time of the release, police declined to comment on the type of weapon that was used in the alleged assault.
All these charged are considered felony level and, when added together, could produce a lengthy prison sentence if convicted on all charges. The KJ goes on to report that Dineen was successfully able to make $10,000 cash bail and is currently out of jail.
As expected in cases like this, part of Dineen's conditions of release are that he have no contact with the victim or the witnesses.
