Gov. Mills Signs Plastic Bag Ban

As of Monday June 18, the statewide plastic bag ban bill has officially been signed.

Governor Mills says the ban of single use plastic bags will go into effect on April 22, 2020, which is Earth day.

The reason for the wait is they are giving businesses time to adjust to the new law.

Maine is the 4th state to ban plastic bags after, Hawaii, New York, and California.
