Gov Mills To Sign Mandate Requiring Face Coverings

According to WMTW, Governor Janet Mills intends to sign a mandate for the enforcement of the wearing of face coverings (masks) in certain parts of the state.

This mandate would require many retailers, hotels, and restaurants in Hancock, Waldo, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Cumberland and York counties to require customers to wear some kind of face covering.  Additionally, some of Maine's larger cities, like Bangor and Lewiston, will be required to adhere to the mandate.  Agreeing to enforce face coverings would be part of the reopening checklist businesses would perform prior to opening.  According to the governor, the recent influx of visitors to Maine's coastal counties has made this mandate necessary.

Additionally, Mills has added to the list of states where visitors are exempt from quarantining and/or COVID-19 tests.  In addition to New Hampshire and Vermont, beginning Friday (July 3rd), residents of Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York will not be required to quarantine or show a negative test in order to visit Maine.
