A controversial banner hung up inside Maine's Portland International Jetport has caught the attention of the state's Governor.

According to WGME 13, a banner that currently hangs inside the Jetport encourages people visiting the state to not eat seafood. Many people oppose the banner being there for multiple reasons, not the least of which it deters visitors of spending money on one of Maine's biggest industries- seafood.

The banner, presented by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), tells those in the Jetport that fishing gear is responsible for 300,000 whale and dolphin deaths each year, and that they should not be eating seafood.

WGME said Mills indicated that the banner 'falsely portrays' Maine's seafood industry. According to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA), a right wale hasn't been entangled in Maine fishing gear since 2004.

The banner went up in the jetport on Febryary 19th and will reportedly be coming down this Saturday, March 5th.
