With all things considered, it really hasn't been that 'bad' of a winter for most of us here in the Pine Tree State. Of course, 'bad' is certainly a relative term depending on the kind of winter you were hoping to have.

Snowfall, at least overall, has been low to moderate for us in the central part of the state, and while we did have that crazy burst of cold weather, it was fairly mild early on, leading to the delayed freezing-over of many lakes and ponds.

We even had a bit of a 'February thaw' and some of us even considered taking the covers off the motorcycles. Actually, as a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that some people never even put the covers ON their motorcycles.

Well, at any rate, I hope you enjoyed the break from the wintery precip, because multiple rounds of it are on the way this week, including a 'big one' on Thursday into Friday.

According to Colleen Hurley at WMTW News 8, it's going to be a fairly active weather week here in Maine. Hurley says that the fist of multiple disturbances will happen Monday evening, followed by another one Tuesday evening.

She goes on to explain that these first couple of events will be powered by a weak system and won't present too much trouble for Mainers and will bring with them 'light' snowfall.

It's the storm that Hurley is watching for Thursday into Friday that is likely to be the biggest 'pain in the butt' for Maine this week. Hurley says that this larger storm will move into the area on Thursday and will hang around through Friday afternoon/evening.

While snowfall totals aren't yet available for this system, WMTW is reporting that this storm, in addition to snow, will bring with it a mixed bag of precip including sleet, freezing rain and ice.

Mixing precip can of course have an impact on the overall snowfall total in any given region. We will continue to follow this storm closely and update this article as new information comes in to us.

Be safe!
