How Do You Prepare For a Power Outage?

The forecast for today is heavy rain and wind with gusts up to close to 50 mph. Of course with the wind there is the possibility of power outages. Whenever there is a threat of a power outage I go on a cleaning rampage of sorts. Is it just me? Or do you do the same thing?

I make sure the laundry is done and I wash the dishes even if the dishwasher is only half full for starters. I have to have the vacuuming done, have taken a shower and make sure I have a pot of coffee brewed. When I lived in the apartment, I would jack the heat up to 80 degrees on cold days just in case as well. Today it will be in the 50s so I think we can handle it if the power goes out. I also charge everything, like laptops, phones, etc.

I'm sure if I thought harder about it I could come up with a few more idiosyncrasies when it comes to the possibility of a power outage. No I don't go out and buy extra milk and other stuff at the grocery store. If the power is out in my area, I'll just go to another store where power is on if I need something.

Am I weird when it comes to this?
