The Kennebec Valley Chamber has helped make this event one of the biggest weekends of the year for Augusta. Every summer when IRONMAN 70.3 comes to town, the hotels are full, the restaurants are packed, and local businesses see people coming through their doors from all over the world. It brings new energy to Augusta and gives visitors a chance to see everything our community has to offer.

What makes this event so special is not just the crowds, but the athletes themselves. IRONMAN 70.3 brings some of the most amazing endurance athletes anywhere right here to Augusta. Competitors begin with a 1.2-mile swim in the Kennebec River, followed by a 56-mile bike ride through the hills and roads of the Kennebec Valley. They finish with a 13.1-mile run through the streets and trails of Central Maine.
