The Lewiston Sun Journal has done this and many of the large national newspapers are also doing it. What is it? These newspapers are using a paywall on their websites. Now you can add Kennebec Journal, Morning Sentinel and Portland Press Herald to the list of dailies that are trying to generate revenue from new digital subscribers.

Not all of the content will be behind a paywall, for example, classifieds and obituaries will be free, but starting tomorrow (July 1, 2014) unless you pay for the service you'll only get 10 free articles a month.

How do you feel about this? On one hand, they’re protecting their product, which I get. On the other, they’re limiting news resources to the public at large.

At least radio is still free.
