The Kennebec Leadership Institute annually takes on a major project in the Kennebec Valley area and this year, they are looking to help the Augusta Boys & Girls Club. The current class at the Kennebec Leadership Institute decided to take on the challenge of creating a commercial kitchen within the Augusta Boys & Girls Clubs space at the Buker Community Center in Augusta.

The Augusta Boys & Girls Club would like to provide healthy cooking and eating programs for the at-risk teen club members, but unfortunately, they do not have a sufficient kitchen space to do so. After school nourishment is a key part of the their programming, because for many of the 160 teens that attend, throughout the year, it is their last meal of the day.

The kitchen will provide an essential piece to the club’s programming, and will also provide a space for other community groups to teach, learn and grow in cooking skills and healthy eating.

You can help too, by donating at their gofundme.com page!
