For almost two decades people from Central Maine and beyond have known the name 'Buddy T's'. Buddy T's restaurant opened 16 years ago by owner Buddy Taylor. The restaurant opened back in 2005 on Main Street in Auburn at the Marketplace Mall. While the restaurant will remain at its current location, other things are about to change.

Buddy put the eatery up for sale about 18 months ago after deciding he was ready for a break from the restaurant industry. Let's face it, the last 18 months haven't been easy on anyone that owns a restaurant.

According to the Sun Journal, the restaurant has sold and will be changing names. Melissa Goucher of Winthrop, a longtime patron of Buddy T's, has purchased the restaurant and is rebranding it as 'Melissa's Pub + Grill'. Melissa, who has worked as nurse for many years, told the SJ that this has always been her dream.

Goucher says to start she will be keeping the menu the same as Buddy T's and also operating under the same hours, seven days a week from 11 AM to 11 PM. She does plan on adding some healthier options to the menu down the road.

Goucher said about Taylor in a statement,

“He’s a friendly face and he picked on my husband and I every time we came in..Joke around, tease us, tease my husband mostly. Even if he’s behind the bar, and that’s usually where he is, he makes a point to come out and say hello to people and I really want that to continue. I think it’s important for the owner to walk around and see that people are happy, and if they’re not, fix it.”
