The Mystic Quilting Friends in Chelsea are doing their part to support the Steve Irwin Foundation after the devastating wildfires.

They have been making Joey Pouches to send to the Australian Wildlife Warriors.

Joey pouches are made to mimic the feel of a kangaroo pouch, which young kangaroos are supposed to stay in during the first 9 months of life.

There are over 70 chapters of the quilting guild in Maine with over 2100 members. This chapter got together one Saturday and since then have taken off.

They saw the problems happening in Australia and knew they had to do something.

While making the Joey pouches they hand stitch them so no seams are showing because koalas and kangaroo will cut the loose thread with their claws.
