Andy Couture, owner of Sparetime Recreation bowling alleys in Lewiston and Hallowell says the time has come to shut down the Lewiston location. Couture told the Sun Journal that he has been trying to sell the Lewiston location for quite sometime but to no avail.

While COVID-19 and the pandemic that ensued has certainly been tough on business, Couture says that the pandemic wasn't a major part of the decision to close the doors. The Lewiston alley features 12 candlepin bowling lanes and 22 10-pin bowling lanes, a combination that the Hallowell center doesn't feature (Hallowell is only 10-pin).

Couture also said that the Hallowell location would be closing, too, though only temporarily from May 7th to June 23rd. Couture says that they're in need of a 'COVID break'.

While the doors in Lewiston are slated to close permanently on May 4th, Couture still holds out hope that a new buyer will come through. He says that the building, along with all the equipment inside, is for sale. He says that the whole package is worth north of $500,000 but it is only listed for $125,000.
