Maine 4-Year-Old Dies After Pool Incident in South Carolina
A young boy from Maine has died following a tragic incident while his family was traveling out of state.
Police say 4-year-old Lauchlin McMann, of Palmyra, was pulled from a swimming pool last week while visiting family in North Myrtle Beach.
According to local reports from WPDE, the incident happened on April 21 at North Myrtle Beach Plantation. Lauchlin was taken to a nearby hospital after being found in the pool.
He remained hospitalized for several days before passing away on Tuesday.
The loss has deeply affected both the family and their community back in Maine. A GoFundMe created to support the family has already raised tens of thousands of dollars, showing an outpouring of support from friends, neighbors, and even strangers moved by the story, WGME reported.
Authorities in North Myrtle Beach say the incident remains under investigation. At this time, no additional details about how the child ended up in the pool have been released.
Tragedies like this serve as a difficult reminder of how quickly situations around water can become dangerous, especially for young children.
The family has not released a public statement, but the growing support online reflects just how many people are thinking of them during this incredibly difficult time.
