Okay, how did I not know that a Maine university was home to a freakin' cat lab? In all honesty, I am more of a dog person, however I do have a cat!

According to an article that was published by the Kennebec Journal, the Cat Lab is located inside the University of Maine at Farmington. And what's more? The Cat Lab is currently doing a study to find out just how smart your feline friend really is.

This study of cat intelligence, according to the newspaper, goes far beyond Maine, it's actually international. It's pretty easy to participate, too. All cat owners have to do is take a brief survey at the Cat Lab's website.

According to The Cat Lab website,

The 10 item updated questionnaire will ask you questions about your cat’s memory, problem solving, attention, emotional intelligence, and accrued knowledge; these are all skills that cat personality and veterinary experts have theorized indicate cat intellect.

Following you data entry, your cat will be given its own IQ score. Who knew? Cats can have an IQ score! Staff at Farmington's Cat Lab say that the highest possible score that any feline can achieve is a 70, however that certainly isn't the average.

The Cat Lab is doing this for a few different reasons, not the least of which is that dogs have had this done for decades but the same attention has rarely been paid to their arch nemesis- cats.

The results so far, based on about 3,200 responses, indicate that Siamese and Tuxedo cats are the smartest with an average IQ hovering around 51. Cats that don't rank so well on intelligence include Ragdolls with a 37.34 average and orange cats came in at 53.4 on average.

How smart (or dumb!) is your cat? Find out by taking the survey!
