Much of Maine to See Heatwave & Possibility For Severe Storms This Week
Admittedly, it has been a pretty boring spring season in Maine, am I right? I mean as far as having any super-warm and sunny days for any length of time anyway. It seems like the spring has been much like the winter was- just kind of blah.
Over the wintertime, we never really had any long strings of ice-cold weather or any blockbuster snowstorms. So, hopefully, we can have an epic summer after not having much of a memorable winter.
If you haven't heard, the Farmer's Almanac is calling for a hot and wet summer. Does this mean our rainfall totals will be higher than average? I, for one, certainly hope not. I mean, don't get me wrong, I want enough rain that my lawn doesn't spontaneously combust and burn the neighborhood down, but like not so much that I can't put any miles on the Harley.
According to an article from WGME 13, though we're exactly a month away from the official start of summer, Maine is going to get its first taste of the season of hot temps this week.
While the state overall will see a good amount of sunshine over the next week or so, Wednesday looks to be the day when temperatures will reach their highest, with some locations in Maine slated to be near 90 degrees.
Of course, as we know, when we get those 'hot and humid' days, the risk of severe storms drastically increases as well. According to the WGME article, the biggest chance for severe thunderstorms that could produce damaging winds, hail and rain is going to be on Tuesday evening and Thursday afternoon.
Though it won't be quite as hot as Wednesday, Memorial Day Weekend is still looking to be pretty excellent weather-wise.
