It was a chaotic scene on Wednesday afternoon at a South Portland restaurant according to Maine news reports.

WGME 13 is reporting this morning that there were two different groups of people that were dining at the Kobe Steakhouse located on Gorham Road in South Portland. The news station reports that the two groups of people got into some kind of verbal altercation.

That altercation quickly escalated according to witnesses who were there. This escalation caused both groups of people to leave their seats and move out into the parking lot where things continued to get heated.

During the developing parking lot ordeal, somebody from one of the groups brandished a firearm and threatened folks from the other group. It was at this time that the other group, the ones who had been allegedly threatened, got into their car and drove away.

However, as they were leaving, the person with the gun allegedly got into his car and gave chase. Eventually, both of the vehicles ended up at the intersection of Western Avenue and Gorham Road where the armed suspect allegedly fired shots at the victim's car.

After the car was struck by gunfire, the suspect sped off from the scene and hasn't been found since. Fortunately for the victims and passers by, nobody was struck by the alleged rogue gunfire.

WGME went on to say that anyone with information about the incident is asked to call South Portland Police Detective Jon Stearns at (207) 799-5511 ext. 7212 or Detective Lieutenant Christopher Todd at (207) 799-5511 ext. 7448.
