Maine Man, Allegedly Shoplifting at Hannaford, Flees Store & Gets Run Over By Car
When you read the title of this story, it almost sounds like something out of an episode of COPS, and, considering this incident did actually involve local police, I suppose it could have been.
What led to the man getting run over by a car?
According to an article published by the Sun Journal, a man who was allegedly shoplifting from the Sabattus Street Hannaford Supermarket, fled the scene on foot to apparently avoid being caught.

Minutes later, area dispatchers received a call got reports of a man having been run over in the same area. Police and emergency medical crews immediately rushed to the scene to investigate the apparent crash.
Was it the same guy who was allegedly shoplifting?
The short answer is, allegedly, yes. When police arrived on the scene of the vehicle/pedestrian incident, they found that Ronnie Clark, 46, previously of Lewiston, was in the roadway pinned underneath a vehicle that was being driven by 61-year-old Kenneth Floyd of Greene.

Derek St. Laurent, a spokesperson for the Lewiston Police Department, told the Sun Journal that Clark was completely pinned under the vehicle and the police officers and fire crews had to borrow jacks from a nearby auto shop to lift the vehicle up and get him out from under it.
Was the suspect injured in the vehicle crash?
The Sun Journal is reporting Wednesday morning that Clark was transported from the scene of the accident to Central Maine Medical Center. St. Laurent said that at this time they do not know the extent of Clark's injuries or what his prognosis is.
In addition to the vehicle incident, police are investigating the alleged shoplifting incident that happened prior, which employees of Hannaford say involved Clark, as a separate incident.
